I went to the local subbie munch here in Gainesville tonight and was very pleased with the group. Everyone is friendly, and no one seems overly cliquish. It was an easy group and the food was good.
It also got me a deeper look into the scene, so I know how everything works.
I’m looking forward to going next month and finding a place in the local groups here.

I’m officially getting my first Blackberry! I’ll be getting the Blackberry Curve 8330 with Verizon service. Here’s a picture of it.
It’s a company provided phone, but will have unlimited minutes, etc. I’ll have to learn how to work the thing, so it make take me a few days to be chatting it up like a pro, but I’m very excited.
A new phone seems a trivial thing to be excited over, but it’s pretty and I like it.

I met some new people over dinner last night. I sat down with the gentleman and his girl at The Red Onion to get a closer picture of what’s going on in the area and to feel the gentleman out for fit at play partners or something.
The evening went quite well and I’m pleased with the beginning friendships.
There is a “sub munch” in town I’ll be attending this coming Monday in the evening, and I’m hoping that goes well. All things considered, I’ve had a productive week where dates and fun are concerned.
If all continues in this fashion, I’ll be able to scope out the new lifestyle restaurant in Tampa. It’s an eatery with play space and reportedly good hot wings. I’ve arrived safely in Florida, none the worse for wear save for a sore ass from the plane and a mussed hairdo. Fuzz is settling in nicely and getting along with other dogs.
I got to try a new sushi roll last night from the local Japanese place. Its called a King Samurai roll and it’s like the cheeseburger of sushi rolls, and it has eel in it, which is my favorite.
Other than that, things are off to a pleasantly uneventful start. I’ll start working today or in the next day or so and life will be good. Now I’m just waiting on my packages to arrive.

I board a flight to Gainesville, FL this coming Tuesday. Most everything I own is packed up and ready for UPS to pick up. If you have to move cross country, UPS is your friend.
I have so many plans for my summer that it’s hard to keep them all together in my head. In June, I fly to Virginia to visit my Grammie. I’ll stay over a weekend and while it won’t be a long trip, I’m very much looking forward to it.
In August, I’ll travel to Whidbey Island, WA to visit an old friend. It should be a fun and interesting trip and will give me some time to reconnect with the idea of a vacation.
I’ve gotten out of the habit of journaling. It may be because I’m afraid of people judging my life choices or just because I’m feeling anti-social. Either way, I’m going to make a real effort to update my blogs more. I cannot hide from the world forever.
Fuzz dog is accompanying me on almost all of this. The only thing she’ll miss is the trip to Virginia.
Despite the miserable complaining sure to follow about Florida and the heat, I think things are looking up for me this year. We’ll see.
Angel ~ the girl who can write meaningful poetry and clack out website text all day long, but struggles hard with a letter.
In these times of harsh economic situations, I consider myself luckier than most. I have a good job that pays my bills and leaves me with some extra money to do fun things. I thought I’d be settled for a minute, being tied to a 9-5er. In a stroke of undeserved luck, I’ve been offered another job that pays me more. An SEO group needs a writer and they are set on me. The opportunity has me reconnected with the work I love and an old friend. The job even offers me the benefit of a brand new computer system.
There’s one catch. (isn’t there always) I’ve been asked to move to Florida.
Most people would consider the straight blessing of all this, but I have considerations to make and hesitations about moving to a hot swampy state, lol. Everything taken into account I’ll probably take the position as it pays twice or more than what I’m making now and asks about half the working hours from me. I mean, who can turn that kind of offer down?
I’ve had such a love affair with Colorado, but all things must one day end. I’ve met wonderful people here and seen a great deal of beauty. I’m not sure there’s anything else here for me.
I’ll post more updates on this new job offer as I get them, but if things go right this move will come up very quickly.
